Creating the FS Chart of Accounts

The following options are available for creating the financial statement chart of accounts:

You can choose an FS chart of accounts from those offered in the standard SAP system.

You will most likely want to do this if the FI-LC system is implemented as a stand-alone system. You can manually edit and change the FS items according to your specific requirements.

If you want to assume only the structure of a pre-defined chart of accounts, you can change (substitute) the item numbers with your own.

You can create an entirely new FS chart of accounts. But this involves a lot of Customizing effort.

You can automatically copy the chart of accounts from a FI financial statement version, from a regular chart of accounts, or from R/2 tables, and modify it afterwards according to your individual needs.

You can print the FS items in the Consolidation menu under step Info system ® Master data.

If dBase is to be used for PC data entry of the individual FS data of each company, please bear in mind the following when creating the chart of accounts: Only 8-character FS items can be processed during the PC download of data entry forms and other data. You can therefore only define FS items with 8 characters or less. See also PC Data Entry with DBase.

This restriction also applies for extracts of individual financial statement data from R/2.
