Asset Management

Definition

The Asset Management enterprise area includes all the business processes for providing and managing operating facilities in the widest sense (for example, buildings, plant).

Use

The business transactions of Asset Management primarily cover the financial and accounting aspects within the framework of operational asset management, with respect to the complete life-cycle of the fixed asset.

When a capital investment decision is taken, the cost efficiency of proposed new or replacement capital investments is analyzed. The sum of all planned capital investments for the enterprise is managed in a central capital investment program. This provides information about the take-up of the approved capital investment budget in each phase - planning, procurement and under-construction, and start-up - by comparing planned, budget, and actual figures.
