Appending an Attachment to a Document 

Procedure

  1. In the folder content list, select the document that you want to append the attachment to.
  2. You can also execute this function in the document maintenance. Under the menu path Document ® Create attachment, choose the required function and then continue with step b).

  3. The rest of the procedure depends on the attachment type:

Attachment type

Description

Link to a document existing on the PC

  1. Choose .
  2. In the subsequent dialog box, navigate to the required PC folder and select the document by double-clicking on it.

Link to Web page

  1. In the list field for , choose Link to Web page.
  2. In the subsequent dialog box, specify the name of the web page and, if necessary, a name for the attachment.

You can also copy the URL in your web browser and insert it using in the dialog box.

Link to business object

  1. In the list field for , choose Link to business object.
  2. In the subsequent dialog box, select an object type by double-clicking.
  3. Specify which object you want to create as an attachment. Which options you have and how you are to proceed further depends on the object type selected.

Link to a document stored in the Business Workplace

  1. In the list field for , choose Link to document.
  2. Select a folder in the Folder selection dialog box.
  3. A list is displayed of all the documents that are stored in the folder selected.

  4. Select the required document by double-clicking on it.

Stored spool requests

  1. In the list field for , choose Import from spool.
  2. A list of all the spool requests stored by you is displayed.

  3. Select the required spool request by double-clicking on it.

The spool request is copied with the existing print control characters.

Result

The attachment is appended to the document and displayed in the attachment list. When you send this document the attachments are sent with it. Note that the attached links (with the exception of the link to a Web site on the Internet) can only be used by internal recipients.
