Order Change Management
Description
Engineering Change Management (ECM) allows changes to be made to various master data that all have to be changed within a change
process. Future procurement elements can therefore be created with a changed product structure.
Order Change Management (OCM) extends this function to enable existing
procurement elements also affected by a change to be included in the
change process. OCM is triggered by changes to master data or sales
orders. It is possible to adjust production orders that are already being processed to the changed product structure.
OCM can be triggered by changes in master data and sales orders. For
this reason, there are two application processes in the area of OCM that take account of the different requirements for both areas:
- Change Process for Master Data
In the change process for master data it is possible that changes to
BOMs or routings be effective not only for future procurement elements,
for example, production orders, but also for existing procurement elements.
Depending on the progress of the order, it is possible that components
have already been withdrawn or operations already processed. Therefore
it is not possible to apply the changes automatically without checking.
In the case of copying a changed BOM, the user must check, for example,
if the newly added components are already available or whether the
removed components can still be dismantled and reused. OCM supports you by determining and checking the changes.
In addition to the actual change copying process, it is possible to
create a simulation order for the purpose of making comparisons. This
type of simultion order is created on the basis of the changed product
structure. It is analogous to a production order, but does affect production.
- Change Process for Sales Orders
In this process it is possible to consider changes desired by the
customer, for example, with reference to the configuration of ordered
products, even when the production or procurement process has already started.
In order to decide to what extent the customer wishes can be fulfilled,
a simulation order is created in this process, based on the changed
sales order. It is analogous to the production order, but does not affect production.
The complete change process can only be executed for production orders
and not for planned orders or purchase orders. In the case of planned
orders and purchase orders it is, however, possible to determine whether they are affected by the changes.
The order change process cannot be applied to
In the master data change process, it is not possible to make changes
to sequences and production resources/tools. In addition, it cannot be applied to
Multi-level make-to-order production is not considered in the change process for sales orders.
You will find additional information in the documentation 'PP - Production Orders' (PP-SFC) under section Order Change
Management.
Change system parameters in customizing
To control order change management (OCM) you define:
Customizing production orders: Operations -> Order Change Management (OCM) -> Define Total Change Profile
.
