Additions to shipment completion

Description

As of Release 4.5A, the following additions are available in shipment completion:

Activity profiles

Activitty profiles are used for defining possible activities within the shipment document, depending upon the status set for the shipment. You can define your own activity profile for each status (e.g. transportation planning, check-in, transportation processing).

Possible activities, that can be carried out when a status is set, are:

You define a selection variant, which you assign to a shipping type. This defines for a shipment type, those activities that are to be carried out for a shipment whenever a certain status is set.

Example

You can define activities for shipment type 'individual shipments' so that goods issue is always carried out for all deliveries in the shipment as soon as the shipment is marked as processed.

You can also have a dialog box for additional entries appear when a certain status is set. After check-in, for example, a dialog-box could appear, in which you are required to enter the license number of the truck and the name of the truck driver. You determine the fields that appear in the dialog box when defining the activity profile.

Function authorization for status

As of Release 4.5A, the system carries out an authorization check when you change the shipment status.

It makes sense to restrict the number of shipment status activities that can be carried out by each employee. In some companies, certain shipments types may only be processed by a certain employee. I.e., some employees might be responsible for sea shipments and others for road shipments. It is also possible that some employees would organize transportation planning and other activities up to the point of completion. An employee who is responsible for a certain status activity may not be authorized to carry out other activities.

Status authorization can therefore be used as a security instrument, e.g., to prevent retrospective changing of a shipment.

When an employee changes the status of the shipment, the system checks whether the user is authorized to make the changes for that shipment type and shipment status for the shipment in question. If the correct authorization is stored in the user master record, then the status activities can be processed further. Otherwise, processing cannot continue and the system issues a message describing the reason for this and the procedure to follow. Authorization object V_VTTK_TSA with the authorization fields SHTYP for the shipment type and TRSTACT for the shipment status activity is used for the authorization check.
