Define Kanban

The Production Planning component can handle material stagings for classicKanban processing directly using the System (LE-WM).

In the Warehouse Management system, you define and manage so-called interim storage bins. These storage bins are assigned based on the kanban control cycle. In thecontrol cycle for stock transfer you must first assign the following:

A material requirement generates a requirement which is used to create orders in standard processing. When these transfer orders are confirmed, a stock transfer (WM storage location to kanban storage location) takes place in the background. The kanban storage location must not be WM-relevant!

Requirements

You must use the kanban component.

Standard Settings

In the SAP standard system, replenishment movement type "350" is pre-set for warehouse number "001" in storage type "150". For the actual stock transfer, IM movement type "311" is pre-set.

Activities

Set the required parameters for the kanban interface in the order specified:

1. Maintain production supply area (PSA) - if you have not done so already
For WM staging, assign the above parameters to your control cycles. Control cycles are not maintained in Customizing, but in the application itself. For more information, refer to the section on "PP kanban" in the R/3 library.
2. WM replenishment movement type
You specify for each storage type which WM movement type is used to process kanban replenishment from the warehouse.
Assign the appropriate replenishment movement type to your kanban storage type.
3. For a stock transfer "WM storage location to kanban storage locaction", you must use storage location control to assign the corresponding kanban storage type and the replenishment movement type to the kanban storage location (!). Using storage location control, you can also specify whether posting changes are to be combined. If you set this indicator, posting changes are processed with program RLLQ0100 which can be scheduled as a batch job. If this indicator is not set, posting changes take place in the background immediately after the transfer order is confirmed. If transfer orders are confirmed directly, the posting change takes place immediately after the transfer order is created. If errors occur during background processing, you can specify which users are to be notified by mail.
For more information on storage location control, refer to the IMG section Define storage location control (IMG for Warehouse Management: Interfaces -> Inventory Management).
4. Using the kanban application, you can define if transfer orders are to be created automatically for transfer requirements.
When transfer orders are created in the background, the system can generate logs and error notes using mail messages. These mail messages are then assigned to specific recipients by means of a mail indicator.
Determine the mail indicators and assign them to the recipients.
Only use field Mail recipient. The document user is not considered in this context.
