Distribution

Before you set up distribution in the central ERP system, you must check and maintain the following data:

Defining the logical systems

Check if the following logical systems are defined:

If the logical names of the systems involved have not yet been defined, perform the following steps:

1. Maintain the logical systems in ALE Customizing
(Cross-Application Components -> Distribution (ALE) -> Basic Settings -> Maintaining Logical Systems -> Maintain logical systems
2. Assign the logical system to the client of the ERP system
(Cross-Application Components -> Distribution (ALE) -> Basic Settings -> Maintaining Logical Systems -> Assign logical system to client

For more information on how to maintain logical systems, refer to the ALE documentation 'Maintaining Logical Systems'.

Defining the RFC destination

You must define the RFC destination for the logical system of the WMS to allow communication between the ERP system and the WMS. To do this, go to ALE Customizing (and select Distribution (ALE) -> Communication -> Define RFC destination). For more information, refer to the ALE documentation 'Define RFC destination'.

Defining synchronous communication

For certain processes in the central system (for example for consistency checks in Customizing and for data retrieval in the partner system), direct communication between the ERP system and the decentralized WMS is necessary. This communication link can only be established between two SAP systems. This means, that both the ERP system and the decentralized WMS are SAP systems. Whether communication is possible, depends on the connection type of the RFC destination. This type of communication is only possible with connection type "3". To allow this type of communication, you must define the RFC destination for the synchronous connection. You make this definition in ALE Customizing (Distribution (ALE) -> Communication -> Assign RFC destinations for synchronous method calls). If the decentralized WMS is a non-SAP system, you are not required to maintain this data.

For more information on maintaining this data refer to the ALE documentation 'Assign RFC destinations for synchronous method calls' and 'Setting Up Communication Control'.
