FI-LC: PC Data Entry and Reporting with Interactive Excel
Description
In Release 4.0B, a new version of the Interactive Excel component
replaces the version delivered as of 3.0, which will no longer be maintained by SAP.
Interactive Excel enables Consolidation databases to be linked to the
well-know spreadsheet program Microsoft Excel for the following tasks:
- Entry of the financial data of subsidiaries that do not have access to an R/3 System
For the entry of data, Interactive Excel can be used only in conjunction with the PC data entry component based on Access.
- Creation of reports that can be refreshed with the latest data from an appropriate database
Data can be imported into reports from either the R/3 System or a Microsoft Access database.
Interactive Excel provides the following central functions:
- Creation of user-definable data entry forms and reports, using Excel's wide range of formatting functions
- Use of individual values, sets and hierarchies (for example of
financial statement items) from an R/3 System or Access database as
proposals, in order to simplify the definition of data entry forms and reports
- User-defined Excel formulas within a report definition
- Import of local valuation data, group valuation data, and consolidated data from a database
- Optional checking of the matrix definitions for consistency prior to
data entry, and automatic checking upon export to a database
- Validation of data in the target database
- Pivot tables (data cubes) for reporting purposes
- Refreshing of report data via a live database link
- Automatic refreshing of report data after changes in the definition of a report
- Creation of a static copy of a data entry form or report
- List of information concerning the origin of report data, and option to insert the list into a worksheet
