Material Identification

Use

You can use this function to identify and verify the ingredients at the production line.

Prerequisites

The ingredients were staged in handling units (HUs).

Features

Material identification is managed in the PI sheet by way of dynamic function calls and includes the:

  1. Completeness Check

You can check:

All picked HUs must be staged.

At the beginning of production, at least one unit of measure of each component must be available, irrespective of the whole staged quantity.

Depending on how it was defined in the master recipe, the completeness check can take place for:

The system can then trigger an automatic goods issue posting (GI-posting) or the user can post a separate goods issue at a later time.

  1. Sequence Check

The sequence check implies that a completeness check has already been carried out.

Depending on how it was defined in the master recipe, the sequence check can be carried out for:

The system can then trigger an automatic goods issue posting (GI-posting) or the user can post a separate goods issue at a later time.

The completeness check and sequence check can be used independently of each other or they can be combined. The completeness check must take place before the sequence check.

The system can display the picked HUs that have not yet been checked. To allow for this, you set the characteristic PPPI_DISPLAY_REQUIRED_HU in the standard process instruction category MI_HUCMP for the completeness check or MI_HUSEQ for the sequence check.

The resulting inspection will then be displayed both in the current dialog as well as by a symbol in picking.

  1. Goods Issue Posting

After material identification is complete, an automatic goods issue posting (GI-posting) can be triggered, or a separate goods issue posting can be made by the user at a later time.

If an automatic goods issue is posted, a message is sent to message destination PI51. The actual goods issue posting takes place when sending.

For more information, see Separate Goods Issue Posting.

  1. Transfer of the Data to the Batch Record (EBR - Electronic Batch Record)

Data is passed from material identification to the batch record automatically when you exit by choosing Save. At this point, the standard process message category PI_HUREC is used to pass messages to message destination PI01.

The following characteristics are transferred:

  1. Completeness Check for Picking

You can display the number of components for which a quantity has already been picked without calling up the manual picking function again.

To do this, choose Identification ® Check picking on the completeness or sequence checks screens.

The number of picked or non-picked HUs is displayed under Check picking.

HUs for Order

You can display all available information about the HUs for a production order by choosing Logistics -> Central Functions -> Handling Unit Management -> Display Handling Units -> For Process Order.

After you have entered the production order number, a list appears with all HUs that are assigned to the order. You can select an HU for information about the:
