Family allowance is the amount received by the employee in relation to dependency, according to specific circumstances.

Some family allowances are paid monthly, for example, child allowance; others, for example, special education allowance, are paid once a year.

There is also another group of family allowances that are paid once, such as, for example, a family allowance for adoption.

Family allowances have the following features:

• They are not subject to retirement contributions or discounts
• They are not taken into account for the Annual Extra Payment payroll run or for the payment of compensation due to dismissal or accident.
• The time worked is not proportionally accredited.
