Visibility for Positions (Succession Planning) 

  1. Select Human resources ® Personnel Management ® Personnel Development.
  2. On the Personnel Development screen, select Planning ® Succession.
  3. Select all and enter the following data:

  1. In the Possible entries via… dialog-box, select Structure search.Select Continue.
  2. In the Choose position dialog box select IDES AG ® Executive Dir. - Germany ® Human Resources (D) ® Director of Human Resources (D). Select Choose.
  1. Select Planning ® Perform Planning.
  2. On the Succession planning screen, you get some information about qualifications, potentials, designations, preferences and careers of the candidates.

  3. Select Succession plan and then select Edit ® Expand Subtree.
  4. The succession plan displays possible persons for the succession.

  5. Select Goto ® Ranking list.
  6. On the right hand side you can see qualifications, potentials, designations, preferences and careers of the candidates.

    The system R/3 lists persons or applicants, sorted descending, that correspond with the requirements of the position:

    E. g. green light: Person fully meets the requirements.

    E. g. yellow light: Person has a middle suitability.

    E. g. red light: Person is unsuited.

  7. Select Settings ® Suitability % on/off.
  8. In the field Suitability the system displays a suitability in per cent per person:

    100% - 66%: suitable

    33% - 66%: qualified

    below 33%: unsuited

  9. Return to the Personnel Development screen.
  10. Select Reporting ® Profile Matchup. Enter the following data:

  12. Select Execute.
  13. On the Profile Matchup screen, you can see the position requirements and its proficiencies (yellow) as well as the qualifications (green) of the selected person e. g. Alexander Rickes.

    For the qualifications Leadership skills and Verbal, written communication skills the system R/3 generates possible further training.

  14. Double-click on Management techniques (yellow).

On the Book Attendance: Data screen, you can book trainings to resolve possible qualifications.

  1. Select one course e. g. from 27.04.1999 to 28.04.1999 and select Book.

In the status line you can see the message "Attendance booked" and in the section Business event catalog in the field Bookings, the number has been changed.

The System R/3 could be preset so that automatically updates of the qualifications after the successful attendance of a course are performed and the qualification deficit in the area Management techniques is cleared.

  1. Return to the Personnel Development screen .
  2. Select Profile ® Display.
  3. In the section Profile enter the following data:

  5. Select Execute.
  6. On the Person: Display Profile (xxx - 31.12.9999) screen, the system displays more specific information about the selected person on the tab pages qualifications, potentials, Interests and Dislikes: Bruno Hochlehnert e. g. has Potential for the position of director and is qualified for the objectives corporate law, industrial law. Additionally, he has potential for the superior positions of Director Finance + Administration as well as Chief Financial Officer.

  7. Return to the Personnel Development screen .
  8. Select Reporting ® Find ® For qualifications.
  9. In the Possible entries via… dialog-box, select Structure search and then select Continue.

  10. In the Choose Qualifications dialog-box, branch General education ® School Education / University Education ® Degree programs.
  11. Select Business Administration Degree and Master's Business Administration Degree.
  12. Branch the category Business Adm. Skills/Knowledge and select HR-Management skills.
  13. Select the category Social competence ® Intellectual Skills and select Ability to organize and act as well as Verbal, written communicative skills.
  14. Select the category Language Skills and select English language skills.
  15. Select Transfer.
  16. On the Fin Object(s) for Qualifications / Requirements screen, in the top part of the screen, you can see 6 necessary qualifications; in the lower part you can see the persons meeting the necessary qualifications. The persons are sorted descending according to qualifications, i.e. the persons with the most qualifications are standing on top.
  17. In the left column of the displayed persons, the systems displays the number of qualifications met.
  18. Return to the main SAP R/3 System screen.
