Career Planning for Persons 

In this scenario, Mrs. Anja Müller, Director of Human Resources, is looking for opportunities for a further business career within the IDES AG, on the horizontal as well as the vertical level. The personnel officer responsible for managers shows possible career steps according to the career model with respect to each suitability profile. Occurring qualification deficits are recognized due to a comparison of profiles and it is possible to put the person down for further training necessary.

  1. Select Human Resources ® Personnel Management ® Personnel Development.
  2. On the Personnel Development screen, select Planning ® Career.
  3. On the Career Planning screen, enter the following data:

  1. In the Possible entries via… dialog-box, select Structure search and select Enter.
  1. In the Choose Person dialog box select IDES AG ® Exec.director - Germany ® Human Resources (D) ® Director of Human Resources (D) ® Anja Müller.
  2. Select Choose.
  3. On the Career planning screen, you have manifold opportunities for analysis. The system R/3 offers you two types of careers Business Career and Management Career.
  4. Select Execute.
  5. Firstly get yourself all important information about a further career of Mrs. Anja Müller:

  6. Mark the field Name with the cursor and select Profile.
  7. On the Person: Display Profile (xxx - xxx) screen, you get information about Mrs. Müller regarding her qualifications, potentials, interests and dislikes with the respective evaluations.

  8. Select Goto ® HR master data.
  9. The system displays the Display HR Master Data screen where you can see specific information about personnel administration. Return to the Person: Display Profile (xxx-xxx) screen.

  10. Mark one qualification e. g. Master's Business Administration and select Edit ® Display.
  11. In the Display Qualification dialog box the system provides further information about qualifications, proficiencies and addit. data. Select Continue.
  12. Return to the Career Planning screen.
  13. Here you can start evaluations about requirements of positions and vacancies in the same way.

    The branch Director shows all horizontal positions Mrs. Anja Müller is suitable for, in the branch Executive Board you can find the possible positions in the vertical hierarchy.

  14. Select Management Career - Executive Board (green).
  15. You can see all vacancies and positions Mrs. Anja Müller is suitable for.
  16. Mark the position Executive Board (green) and select Goto ® Ranking list.
  17. The system R/3 displays all possible positions, vacancies are marked specifically.

    Above that, the system R/3 provides information about the suitability of Mrs. Anja Müller regarding the positions in the company. The green light marks all positions for which she fully meets the requirements, the yellow lights shows a middle suitability and the right light indicates that she is not suitable at all for this specific position.

  18. Select the position Executive Board and select Goto ® Profile matchup.
  19. On the Profile Matchup screen, the system displays the requirements for the position Executive Board (turquoise) and the qualifications of the person Anja Müller (green).

    The category Social competence, in the sections Leadership skills and Verbal, written communicative skills you can see that the qualification profile does not fully meet the required profile. To adjust these qualification deficits, the system R/3 generate possible further training (yellow).

  20. Select the icon before Management techniques (yellow).
  21. The system displays the Book Attendance: Data screen of the module Training and Event Management. Here you can book trainings to resolve possible qualifications.

  22. Select one course e. g. from 27.04.1999 to 28.04.1999 and select Book.
  23. In the status line you can see the message "Attendance booked" and in the section Business Event catalog in the field Bookings, the number has been changed.

    One can pre-set the system R/3 so that the system automatically updates the qualifications after the successful attendance of a course and the qualification deficit in the area Management techniques is cleared.

  24. Return to the main SAP R/3 System screen.
