Editing Configurable Master Recipes

Use

You create configurable master recipes for products that can be manufactured in different forms or variants, and require both process steps and material components that are valid for all variants and some that are only valid for a specific variant. Thus, you do not need to create separate master recipes for each variant of your product.

Unlike ordinary master recipes, configurable master recipes contain the following data:

When converting a sales order, the system uses this data to select the objects required for the product variant and copies them to the process order.

Integration

To create object dependencies for master recipe objects, you must install the following components:

To carry out configuration, you use the following components:

Prerequisites

Before creating a configurable master recipe, you should be familiar with the basic functions of master recipe editing (refer to Master Recipe Editing).

To edit the configuration data for a recipe, the following requirements must be met:

To carry out configuration, you must also create a configuration profile for the header material of the recipe. In this profile, you assign the variant classes to be used for configuration to the material (refer to Creating a Configuration Profile).

Features

In configurable master recipes, you determine which of the following objects are used for which variant of your product:

If required, you can also determine that values of some of the fields in these objects vary from variant to variant.

Selection Criteria for Recipe Objects

You determine which recipe objects are selected by assigning object dependencies of the type selection condition to these objects. In doing so, you specify when the corresponding object is used to manufacture a variant of your product. You describe the product features that serve as selection criteria using predefined characteristics.

Objects without object dependencies are used for manufacturing all variants of your product.

Production resources/tools are not taken into account in configuration since they cannot be used in process orders at the moment.

Changing Values in Recipes

You also use object dependencies to change the value of a recipe field. You need:

In the action or procedure, you determine which value the reference characteristic, and hence, the field, is to have for a specific product feature.

You can use reference characteristics to change the following recipe tables:

Values you can change, for example

PLPO

Operations, phases, and secondary resources

Standard value
Unit of measure
Operation or phase text

STPO

BOM components

Component quantity
