You can set up your R/3 system as an SAP Retail system (i.e. set the Retail switch). Only by doing this can you use the entire scope of the functions offered by SAP Retail.

Certain SAP Retail functions are only possible in an R/3 system if it has been set up as an SAP Retail system. Other functions, on the other hand, are only possible in an R/3 system if it has not been set up as an SAP Retail system.

Since certain SAP Retail functions cannot be combined with other R/3 functions and vice versa (in particular PP functions, with the exception of Requirements Planning and Forecasting), not all functions can be used at the same time.

You are only allowed to set up your system as an SAP Retail system if you have a valid license for SAP Retail.
