Integrated Inbox via the Internet (BC-SRV-OFC SAPoffice and BC-BMT-WFM Workflow Management)

Use

Employees in your enterprise whose work centers are not on the premises or who are often away on business trips do not always have direct access to R/3. As a result, these employees are often isolated from the information and decision processes within the enterprise, which affect them.

SAP now offers these employees the opportunity to:

This documentation gives you all the information required to use SAPoffice and workflow functions via the Internet.

For further information on SAPoffice, please refer to the documentation SAPoffice

Basic knowledge about the application component SAP Business Workflow is required to understand the workflow functionality. For a full description of SAP Business Workflow, please refer to the documentation SAP Business Workflow.

Type of Internet Application Component

Intranet

An employee can send documents, process documents in their folders or use information in Shared folders from any Internet connection. The employee can display work items in their inbox and be involved in the business processes in the enterprise by processing work items.

It is no longer necessary to install the R/3 frontend component and set up a connection to the R/3 System.

This helps your external employees and also those who are often off the premises. The worldwide availability of the Internet also means access to the R/3 System at all times, without having to set up an expensive connection via the telephone network to the "home" R/3 System.

Internal employees who do not use any R/3 functionality except the general SAPoffice functions and the processing of user decisions also benefit. The user interface of an Internet browser is often the familiar user interface to these users. They now no longer have to leave this to use SAPoffice and workflow functions.

Adaptations

Every work item that appears in the R/3 System in the integrated inbox of an employee is also displayed on the Internet, and can be processed there with certain basic functions (see above).

If it is also to be possible to execute a work item via the Internet, the relevant single-step task must be designated Executable on Internet.

Work items for decision tasks are Executable on Internet as standard.
