To make sure that you can archive the Informix database with ON-Archive in the best way, you have to decide on your approach. If your approach is poor, you might later have trouble using the archived data to restore the database.

You have completed the preparations necessary to set up ON-Archive . Refer to Configuration of ON-Archive.

1. You follow the archive guidelines.
2. You decide on the archive level and frequency.
3. You decide whether to use the SAPDBA recovery report.
4. You decide whether to use the DBA Planning Calendar in the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) of the R/3 System to schedule archives.
5. If you have a large database or need a fast archive, you decide whether to use parallel archives.
