Use
You can use bottom-up budget assignment to identify that the total budget amount assigned to lower-level budgets has exceeded the budget of the higher-level budget structure element, and you can balance this out.
Starting from the lowest-level budget structure element in your budget hierarchy and working up, you assign budgets within your budget hierarchy. The system calculates and displays the budget required by each higher-level budget structure element.
You assign a budget to the lowest-level budget structure element. The system flags the budget of the higher-level budget structure element as being exceeded, since a budget has not been proposed there yet. You can balance out the overall budget again by assigning the corresponding budget amount to the higher-level budget structure element.

The system summarizes the budgets already assigned to the various levels of the budget hierarchy. Depending on how the budget of a budget structure element is managed (monetary/FTE), the system displays the budget required for the budget structure element to which you want to assign a budget.
