The system automatically assigns a settlement rule to the cost collector when it is created. The assignment is carried out via the default rule defined in Customizing for Repetitive Manufacturing (work step, Define default values for cost object controlling).

The settlement rule is made up of one or more distribution rules for the cost collector. The distribution rule consists of a settlement receiver, a settlement share and a settlement type:

• The settlement receiver is the manufactured material for the cost collector.

• The settlement share determines the percentage rate or the equivalence number to be used to distribute the costs to the individual receivers.

• The settlement type specifies that the costs collected on the cost collector are to be settled periodically (periodic settlement).
