Kanban Board from Supply Source View

Use

The supply source uses the kanban board primarily for display purposes. You receive an overview of which kanbans are full and which kanbans have to be replenished.

In the kanban board from the supply source view, the system displays the control cycles with all kanbans in circulation along with their current statuses. The supply source can only set the status IN PROCESS or IN TRANSIT (optional statuses) which informs the demand source of work progress. Independent supply sources can also trigger replenishment.

Procedure

1. Starting from the main KANBAN menu, select Control data ® Kanban board ® Overv.: supply source.

The system branches to the initial screen of the supply source.

2. Enter the plant and:

the responsible person for the supply source for in-house production
the storage location for stock transfer
the issuing plant for plant-to-plant delivery
the vendor for external procurement
the material number as a further selection criterion

If you require additional selection criteria, you can use the function Detailed selection. To access the detailed selections, choose Detailed selections and enter your selection criteria in the following dialog box.

You can also preset the display using the following criteria:

Sort the display according to material number.
Sort the display according to the control cycles that need urgent attention. Urgency can be selected with or without including the maximum empty limit.

Urgency is calculated by dividing the number of empty kanbans in the control cycle by the total number of kanbans in the control cycle. Thus, you can also take the maximum number of empty kanbans allowed into account. Thus, you can also take the maximum number of empty kanbans allowed into account.

Urgency is calculated using the following formula:

a) with maximum empty

no. of empty kanbans - maximum empty

no. of kanbans in control cycle

b) without maximum empty

no. of empty kanbans

no. of kanbans in control cycle

All kanbans with the following statuses are regarded as EMPTY:

WAIT
EMPTY
IN TRANSIT
IN PROCESS

Incorrect kanbans are not regarded as EMPTY.

You can save the options for accessing the kanban board by selecting Display ® Save settings.

Select Continue.

The system displays the kanban board corresponding to your selection criteria. Depending on the size of your monitor, 2-9 kanbans are displayed in one line.

To change the status of a kanban, choose Edit ® Status in process or Status in transit.

The kanbans for which this status change is allowed are assigned a checkbox.

Select the kanbans whose status you want to change and save your entries.

If the indicator Independent Supply Source/Separation of Status Change and Replenishment is marked in the control cycle, the supply source must also trigger replenishment for this control cycle. To do this, proceed as follows:

1. Select Edit ® Replenishment.

The kanbans for which this status change is allowed are assigned a checkbox.

2. Select the kanbans for which you want to create a replenishment element and save your entries.
