Creating the Replenishment Strategy

To set the replenishment strategies for KANBAN, proceed as follows:

1. In Customizing for KANBAN, select Replenishment strategies.

Select which replenishment strategy you want to maintain:

  1. To create new strategies, select Edit ® New entries.
  2. Enter the following parameters which control the replenishment strategies:

For in-house production

The control type determines how in-house production is to be organized for the kanban material: with the manual kanban (card) and cost collector, with run schedule quantities and cost collector or with production orders. This also specifies whether the replenishment elements are created as a result of the kanban signal or as a result of the planning run in MRP (container control). A cost collector is created for the manual procedure and for the procedure with run schedule quantities. This means that the costs incurred in production can be settled periodically. If you use production orders, costs are settled per individual order.

The order type determines the use of the order created (only relevant for the production order). This determines which number range is to be used, the criteria according to which a routing is to be selected, how the order costs are to be calculated, and so on. This entry is only relevant for production orders. In the SAP R/3 System, the order type PPK1 is preset along with all the necessary settings.

You use the signal lock to determine a period (of minutes) in which the kanban signal is blocked. If you re-trigger the kanban signal within this period, the system will not change the status. Thus, you can avoid incorrect entries by scanning the bar code twice by mistake, for example.

This entry determines which movement type is to be used to post the automatic goods receipt for materials produced in-house. This entry is only necessary if you have defined your own movement types, otherwise, the system finds the correct movement type automatically (101).

This defines the contents and the layout of the kanban card. Layout sets are defined with SAPSCRIPT. The layout set PSFC_KANBAN is set in the SAP standard system.

For external procurement

The control type specifies which of the following you want to use: standard purchase orders, delivery schedules, stock transport orders (plant to plant), stock transport scheduling agreements (plant to plant), source list. You also use this indicator to specify whether the replenishment element is to be created directly by the kanban signal or by MRP (container control).

This controls the number assignment of a purchase order, for example.

This specifies the movement type to be used to post the automatic goods receipt for materials that are procured externally. This entry is only necessary if you have defined your own movement types, otherwise, the system finds the correct movement type automatically (101).

For stock transfer

The stock transfer strategies are determined by the following parameters:

This specifies whether you want to use either stock transfer reservations or direct stock transfer.

This determines which movement type is to be used for posting the stock transfer. This entry is only necessary if you have defined your own movement types, otherwise, the system finds the correct movement type automatically (311).

The movement type determines which movement type is to be used for posting the materials transferred when the material comes from consignment stock (this requires the use of stock determination). This entry is only necessary if you have defined your own movement types, otherwise, the system finds the correct movement type automatically (403).

You must maintain the stock determination rule if stock determination is to be used for the material to be transferred. In this case, you must also define the stock determination group in the material master record of the material.

You must maintain the batch search procedure if you want to use batch determination for the material to be transferred.

You use the signal lock to determine a period (of minutes) in which the kanban signal is blocked. If you re-trigger the kanban signal within this period, the system will not change the status. Thus, you can avoid incorrect entries by scanning the bar code twice by mistake, for example.
