MULTIPROCESSOR, NUMCPUVPS & SINGLE_CPU_VP (Informix)

These parameters influence one another and should be considered as a group. For up-to-date information on the current SAP recommendations for setting these parameters, see OSS note 41360.

For multi-processor machines, consider the following factors when setting these parameters:

KAIO ("Kernel-Asynchronous I/O")

To see if this feature is implemented on your system, look on the screen of the Database Monitor and you will see that the field Kaio threads has a value greater than zero, if KAIO is on.

Whether host machine is only running a database service

You may also need to consider whether the host machine is supporting only a database service ("pure database service") or whether application services are also being run on the same host ("mixed database and application services").
