Changing and Switching Profile Parameters

Procedures

You can maintain the R/3 profile parameters as follows:

  1. To change the name of the file where the profile should be activated, choose Administration data. If R/3 System profiles are imported automatically, the administration data is also created automatically.
  2. Maintain the most important profile parameters using the Basic maintenance interface.
  3. Maintain all parameters in a profile by choosing Extended maintenance.
  4. Create, change or delete parameter entries by choosing Extended maintenance.
  5. Create or change parameter values using an edit window.

You can switch between Basic and Extended maintenance at any time. Changes to profiles are adopted when you choose Profile ® Save in database.

You can subsequently change and switch the R/3 profile parameters for instance profiles without restarting the system.

To change and switch the profile parameters

  1. Enter the profile name in the input field.
  2. On the profile maintenance main screen, choose Profile ® Dyn. switching ® Display parameters.
  3. The system displays a list of memory management parameters that can be switched.

  4. Change the relevant profile parameters using basic maintenance (as described above) and save them.
  5. On the profile maintenance main screen, choose Profile ® Dyn. switching ® Execute.
  6. From the list of active application servers, choose an application server and confirm.

The profile is used immediately after the change; you do not have to restart the system. At the end, the system displays a log for parameter switching.
