Basic Maintenance  

Use

Many parameters can be set in an R/3 profile. Often the same set of parameters get changed over and over. In instance profiles, for example, the number of work processes, the buffer sizes, names of work directories and values for language configuration of an instance are often changed.

 

You should describe all parameters. This guarantees that they are recorded in the database. Note that only profiles that were saved in the database can be activated.

When you want to change a parameter, you do not need to memorize all the relevant parameter names. The Basic maintenance option allow you to edit the parameter values quickly and conveniently.

The following diagram shows the screen for adapting profile parameter values for work processes and buffers in an instance profile:
