Checking the Operation Mode with the Control Panel

Use

The control panel gives you an overview of system activity.

You can check whether instances were started correctly, and whether instances are running in the correct operation mode, that is, whether automatic operation mode switching is possible.

From the control panel, you can:

Procedures

Alert text for non-standard operation mode

To gain an overview of operation modes and instances:

  1. Start the Control Panel.

The system displays a list of the host systems and the instances in your R/3 System. The list contains:

  1. Select a server.
  1. Choose Alert details.

The system displays the Alert overview screen, with the alert status of the server.

If the operation mode switch for a special server did not take place, then the alert text operation mode non-standard appears in the control panel for this server.

To find out the cause of the non-standard operation mode:

  1. Start the control panel.
  2. Select the server.
  3. Choose Monitoring ® Status details.
  4. The system displays a dialog box showing the details of the server status, in particular the deviations from the configured data.

The most frequent reason for an operation mode switch failing is inconsistencies in the total number of work processes or in the profiles.

  5. When you have rectified the problem, you can switch the operation mode manually from the Control Panel.

The Control Panel also displays other inconsistencies between the configuration and the current status. For example, the message Work processes non-standard is displayed if the number of active work processes is different from the configured number of work processes, possibly due to a change to the instance profile.
