distribution model

The customer distribution model specifies which applications can communicate with each other in your distributed systems. The customer distribution model contains all the cross-system message flows in your company.

You maintain the model at some central point, and it is then distributed to the other systems in your company.

A distribution reference model comes with the standard SAP System. You can base your own customer distribution model on this reference model.

Preconditions

Before you can construct the customer distribution model, you must have maintained the logical systems. For more information on this, please read the section called Setting up a logical system in the chapter called Basic settings in this IMG.

Activities

• Essentially, the customer distribution model is centrally maintained by you the customer using a PC tool.

• An interactive graphical user interface allows you to build up your own customer distribution model.

• The PC tool checks your customer model for inconsistencies.

• After the model has been created on a central system, it is distributed to the other systems in the distributed environment.

• You can use the Direct model maintenance section for the definition of local sub-systems such as warehouse management systems, PDC systems etc.
