Maintaining PC Document Types

Use

You can specify certain document types which should be treated as ASCII files. This means that documents which are treated as ASCII files by the frontend (e.g. as for HTM or TXT files), are also imported and exported as ASCII files. This allows users to display files on platforms which do not support the original data format.

You want to send HTM files, which were created on a PC, from SAPoffice to a UNIX workstation. These files must be converted into ASCII files before they can be displayed on a UNIX machine. You can perform this conversion by maintaining the document type.

Activities

  1. From the Business Communication Administration initial screen, select Folders ® Document types ® Maintain PC documents
  2. Specify the file extension for the PC application for which the files should be treated as ASCII files in the File extn field and select the ASCII type column.
  3. Save your entries.
