Document Types

Documents are classified using types. The type is assigned when a document is created (by the user or by an application) and defines which functions can be used to process the document. The various document types are managed in an administration table. This table defines, for example, which documents can be created via the SAPoffice user interface.

The following types are available:

These include the following:

- ALI
This type identifies ABAP/4 lists. These cannot be created via the SAPoffice interface. If, however, you are in a list display in the R/3 System and want to send ALI documents or store ALI documents as SAPoffice documents in your private folders or shared folders, select System
® List ® Office

If you select Send, the following happens:

The system creates a document with the title List, adds the list to this document as an attachment (type ALI) and calls the short message screen. The standard functions for sending documents are available from this screen. You can find more information about this topic in: Sending a Short Message.

- BIN
This type identifies binary documents.

- GRA
This type identifies SAP graphics. These cannot be created via the SAPoffice interface. If the SAP graphics are generated from an application, then GRA-type documents can be sent.

- OBJ
This type makes it possible to import and edit objects from the SAP Business Object Repository.

- RAW
This type identifies SAP editor documents.

- SCR
This type identifies SAPscript documents.

- WFL
This type identifies workflow objects in Release 2.1 and 2.2.. These cannot be created via the SAPoffice interface.

- XXL
This type identifies list viewer documents. These cannot be created via the SAPoffice user interface, but can, for example, be sent. If the list viewer is called from an application, you can create XXL documents. You will find further information in the document WF - XXL Lists Export.

In the system, the type EXT is assigned to all PC documents. This type is not displayed on the user interface. The user works with types which correspond to the file extension of the application, for example, DOC for WinWord documents or PPT for PowerPoint documents.

This type identifies archived documents.

This type identifies inbound fax documents. These cannot be created via the SAPoffice interface.

Folders are assigned the type FOL and distribution lists the type DLI.
