Classifying Positions 

Use

When you classify positions, you assign pay scale information to them. This information is required for financing and staffing the positions.

Prerequisites

In order to classify positions, you must first create default values for pay scale groups in Customizing for HR Funds and Position Management (step Overall Budget ® Define Default Values for Basic Pay).

Procedure

  1. Choose Human resources ® Personnel management ® HR funds and position management ® Organization ® Change.
  2. Select an organizational unit, and then select the Organization view.
  3. Choose Organization ® Change.
  4. Select the position you want to classify.
  5. Choose Extras ® Classification ® Pay scale.
  6. The Pay Scale Classification: Detail Screen dialog box appears.

    If you have worked through the procedure entitled Maintaining the Employee group/Subgroup for a Position, the system will propose default pay scale values at this point.

  7. Determine the pay scale classification of the position by specifying a country grouping, pay scale type, pay scale area, employee subgroup grouping for collective agreement provisions, and a pay scale group
  8. On the basis of the pay scale details you specify, the system calculates the monetary amount required for funding.

  9. To store notes, choose Administrative information.
  10. Choose Check.
  11. Choose Create and close.

Result

You have define a pay scale classification for a position. On the basis of this pay scale classification, you can staff the position with a suitable employee and/or finance the position from the overall budget.
