Technical Structuring for Plant Maintenance Purposes

Use

The structuring of assets from a bookkeeping perspective in the FI-AA component is not influenced by the technically-oriented structuring in the Plant Maintenance (PM) component. The PM component has its own structural organization (functional location, equipment). This structure enables you to organize assets according to maintenance requirements (see PM Asset Structuring).

Features

You can create a link between the PM and the FI-AA components by entering the FI-AA asset number in the equipment master record. In this way, it is also possible

Technical Objects

The solid lines show the relationships between assets and equipment or functional locations, when you use equipment and functional locations at the same time in PM. A piece of equipment can be assigned to the asset main number as well as to the asset sub-number. The broken lines shows the situation when only functional locations are used.

The link between the asset and the technical object or functional location does not mean that the organizational assignments (such as to a plant) are automatically the same in both. If you change the organizational assignments in the master record of a piece of equipment or a functional location, the change is not automatically carried out in the asset. Nor is a change made in the asset automatically reflected in the equipment or functional location.
