Maintaining Reference Points in BOMs

On the SAP R/3 main screen choose Logistics ® Production ® Master data ® Bills of material and then Bills of material ® Material BOM, Order BOM, or WBS BOM ® Create or Change
On the initial screen enter the requisite data and choose Goto ® Item overview ® Material.

The Material Item Overview appears.

Enter the reference point in the field you have chosen as the entry field for the reference point

Save the BOM.

You must use capital letters for alphanumerical values.

The reference point in the BOM must be identical with the reference point in the network - generic entries are permissible.

Several bill of material items may have the same value as a reference point however only one network activity may have this value. During allocation, the system checks whether the reference point in the selected network is unique.

The data field SORTF in the BOM has been defined as the reference point. Enter a reference point (for example A1) in the field Sort string
