Aligning Activity Duration with Material Lead Time

Use

You can adjust the duration of a network activity to match with the lead times of all the material components allocated to it.

Prerequisites

When calculating the overall lead time, the system only considers those material components for which you have set the indicator Align.Fin.date on the component detail screen.

Procedure

On the SAP R/3 screen choose Logistics/Accounting ® Project management ® Operative structures and then Network ® Create.
Choose Goto ® Activity overview.
Select the relevant activity and choose Activity ® Component overview.

The Change Network: Assignments to Activity screen appears.

Select the components whose replenishment lead time you want to set equal to the activity duration.

By double-clicking on the component in the component overview call up the detail screen and set the Align. Fin.date indicator. Return to the component overview.

Choose Component ® Duration deliv. time
Save the network.

Result

The system determines the whole procurement lead time and the maximum duration of the activity from the following factors.

The planned delivery time of externally procured material components
Total replenishment lead time for internally produced components or the in-house production time, if the total replenishment lead time has not been entered on the relevant MRP tab page.
