Use
The SAPphone server is activated in either registration or start mode.
Integration
The decision about the activation type depends on the architecture used for telephone integration.
If the SAPphone server is installed on a central telephony server, registration mode should be selected.
If the SAPphone server is installed locally on one work center and several work centers are grouped together by one RFC destination, start mode should be selected.
If the SAPphone server is installed locally on a work center which has its own RFC destination, registration mode should be selected.
Activities
An
RFC destination of the type TCP-IP connections must be created for the SAPphone server.

Program ID of the SAPphone server |
The SAPphone server is registered with a gateway and waits for RFC calls. |
Start mode |
Path and file name server for the SAPphone server |
The SAPphone server is started and terminated before and after each RFC call. |

If the SAPphone server is registered with the gateway of an R/3 application server and this server is shut down, the registration is canceled. The registration must be created again when the application server has been restarted.
To eliminate the need for this dependency, a standalone gateway can be installed on the telephony server. This gateway, along with the corresponding information, can be found on the presentation CD.
