Identifying Relevant Fields

Prerequisites

Each data transfer object has specific fields that must be filled by the data transfer. Relevant fields are all required fields in the online transaction, for example, that must be filled before saving a document. As all relevant fields must be filled with data at the time of the data transfer, you must identify these fields.

From Release 4.5A, this step is supported by a function that automatically records the relevant F1 help fields. The advantage of this is that fields in the transfer file can be automatically identified.

Procedure

  1. On the Data Transfer Workbench initial screen, choose Goto ® Record fields.
  2. Enter the transaction code of the R/3 System transaction that is used to create the data transfer object, for example.
  3. Execute the transaction by entering the relevant field values.
The fields that you specified are recorded in the background.
When you choose Save, the system displays these fields in a list with the following information on each field:

You can call some of the F1 help from this list.

  1. Print the list by choosing List ® Print and use the list when you create the data transfer file.

In addition to the required fields in the online transaction, there are additional object-specific data fields with administration information that should also be filled with the data transfer. These additional fields are described in the application-specific documentation with the structuring rules for the transfer file.
