Internet Mailing Campaign

Description

Release 4.5A includes a new sales support document type which enables you to send mailings over the internet. The internet mailing campaign (sales activity type 0104 ) has the same characteristics as the direct mailing campaign with follow-up activity (sales activity type 0101 ) except that the output for the internet mailing is sent via internet. This is controlled by the transmission medium in the output condition record. Naturally, the system can only send the output by internet if you have defined an e-mail address for each customer and sales prospect on the mailing list.

Note that in the "change address list" transaction, the function which enables you to send output for a mailing campaign to one particular addressee in the address list cannot be used with the internet mailing.

Change system parameters in customizing

The output procedure CAS006 and output type MAIN have been defined specifically for the internet mailing. In the standard system, the transmission medium 5 (Send externally) is defined for the output type (MAIN). The communication strategy CS01 which is assigned to this transmission medium controls that the mailing correspondence is sent via internet if an e-mail address is defined for the recipient. Otherwise, the next means of communication in the communication strategy is used.

Further notes

For more information on communication strategies, see the R/3 Library Documentation on Message Control. Choose Cross-Application Components -> CA Message Control -> Transmission Media.
