Customer Enhancements (User Exits)
The following enhancements are provided for classification:
Automatic Release of Classifications
Classifications can be released automatically when you change incomplete or inconsistent classifications such that they become complete or consistent. (For example, all required characteristics now have a value, or the classification is no longer the same as an existing classification.)
Previously, you had to change the classification status to "Released" manually.
You define automatic release for each status. To do this, you go to Customizing for the classification and select Automatic release for the classification status.
Collective Release
On the allocation screen of classification functions, you can release several allocations at once, by chooing Edit -> Collective release. The system checks whether all the prerequisites for release are fulfilled. If not all the selected allocations can be released, you see a message.
Mass Release
You can display a list of all non-released allocations to a class or class type, then release them all at once, by choosing Allocation -> Mass release from the classification menu.
When you release allocations in this way, you can use a change number that has either a date or another effectivity parameter as its effectivity type. If you use a change number for mass release, you see all allocations that can be processed with your change number.
You can also use this function to display all invalid allocations that cannot be released with your change number, or that have a deletion indicator.
Predefine Organizational Area
On the allocation screen of classification functions, you can predefine the organizational areas that are relevant to your user, by choosing Extras -> Predefine org. area . If you do this, you only see the characteristics for these organizational areas on the value assignment screen. You can save this setting for a specific user.
Class Hierarchy
On the initial screen of the classification functions Allocate -> Class to classes and Allocation -> Objects to class, you can display the superior and subordinate classes of the class you enter, if the class is part of a class hierarchy, by choosing Class hierarchy . You can then select one of these classes and allocate objects to it.
Classification with New Effectivity Types
Engineering change management now lets you use effectivity parameters such as serial numbers to process classification data, as well as dates. For example, changes to a classification can be effective only for serial numbers 100 - 200. The change number determines which effectivity type applies when you change a classification.
Before you can process classifications with change numbers that have parameter effectivity, you must prepare classification table AUSP with report program RCLAUSPT for each class type . If you want to continue working with validity periods, you can still start this report, to improve performance.
Once you have run the report, the class type has the Engin. change mgmt (param) indicator in Customizing for the classification system. However, you can only set this indicator if the Engin. change mgmt (time) is set.
This indicator allows you to use change numbers with parameter effectivity for classification. However, you can still use dates to determine effectivity, with or without engineering change management.
You define the settings in Customizing under
Maintain object types and class types.
