Enter titles for parameter maintenance

In this step you enter headings that are displayed in the change master record according to language when you maintain effectivity parameters.

Preconditions

You have defined the effectivity parameters ( Define parameters step).

Standard settings

When you define effectivity parameters you define with your selection of the type, which input values are required. The system automatically generates an internal characteristic number for these input values.

The internal characteristic number has the following components:

• Key for effectivity parameters (e.g. DATE)

• Suffix (_lo, _hi or _oi)

Which internal characteristic number the system generates, depends on the type of effectivity parameter:

• For effectivity parameters with the single value (S)> type, the system generates an internal characteristic number with the suffix _lo.

• For effectivity parameters with the closed interval (I)> type, the system generates two internal characteristic numbers with the suffixes _lo and _hi .

• For effectivity parameters with the open interval (I)> type, the system generates three internal characteristic numbers with the suffixes _lo, _hi and _oi.

Since the internal characteristic numbers are not dependent on any language, you can maintain descriptions for every internal characteristic number in whichever languages you wish.

Example

For the DATE effectivity parameter, the open interval (O) type is defined. Therefore, there are three internal characteristic numbers for this effectivity parameter: DATE_lo , DATE_hi and DATE_oi.

Activities

You enter language-dependent headings as follows:

1. Choose Edit -> New entries.

2. Enter the internal characteristic number.

3. Enter the language for which the description will be valid.

4. Enter the language-dependent description.

5. Save your entries.
