check field

Definition

Field that is defined in the ABAP dictionary. The contents of the field are described by the data element data element.

Use

When you maintain a change master record whose effectivity is defined by a parameter effectivity, you can check the check field.

When you assign a value to a parameter with check field, the system checks whether the value you have chosen exists in the database.

Examples

The effectivitry type SERNR (serial number) is defined in Customizing in the following way:

Parametesr:

• MATNR (material number)

• SERNR (serial number)

• Check table:

• MARA (general material master data)

• Check field:

• MATNR (material number)

If you want to enter the effectivity area for the serial number interval 100 - 500 in the change master record for material M-1, the system checks whether a material master rceord exists for material M-1.

Dependencies

You must also enter the check table that the check field is to be checked in.
