Budget Currency

Definition

This is the currency in which the overall budgets for a specific period are defined.

Use

In HR Funds and Position Management, an overall budget is defined in a budget currency laid down in Customizing. This currency is referred to as the budget currency. All budget-related transactions in HR Funds and Position Management (the assignment of budget to budget structure elements, for example, or the financing of positions and persons) are performed on the basis of this budget currency.

In HR Funds and Position Management, you can define only one budget currency per financial year. In other words, you can define only one currency for any specific period in Customizing.

If you want to change the budget currency (if, for example, your organization is changing over to the euro), you do so in Customizing (HR Funds and Position Management ® Overall Budget ® Define Budget Currency). Please note, though, that you can only change the budget currency as of the financial year following the current financial year.

When you define a new budget currency, the system converts all original budgets into the new currency when you carry forward the overall budget.
