Materials Management (MM)

Material (for example, oil, tap water, or current) that flows directly into the production process from a pipeline, a pipe, or another type of conduit.

Pipeline materials are not planned since they are always available.

The price of a pipeline material is recorded in the pipeline info record for the relevant vendor.

A pipeline withdrawal has the following effects:

• The stock is not changed.

• The consumption is updated.

• A pipeline liability towards the vendor is incurred which must be accounted for and settled on a periodic basis.
