Classification

Use

Classes allow you to classify materials with the same characteristics. A material can be assigned to one or more classes.

Integration

You can assign a material to a class in one of the following ways:

For more information on classification, see the R/3 library documentation CA Classification Guide.

Prerequisites

Since classification data is valid for the whole company, the Organizational Levels dialog box does not appear before you access the Classification screen in the material master.

Activities

Classification data is distributed over several screens which the system runs through consecutively when you create the Classification view on a material master record.

When you create classification data, the system asks you to choose a class type in a dialog box. If need be, you can change the class type on the second Classification screen by choosing the appropriate function under Extras.

On the second Classification screen, you can assign the material to classes by specifying them in the Class column as required. The system makes entries in the Class description, Status, and Icon columns automatically on the basis of the classes you have chosen. If you have assigned the material to more than one class, you can specify a standard class in the Std class column.

To define characteristic values (such as a particular size or color) for the chosen classes, choose Values.
