Costing

Prerequisites

To access this data screen, valuation at your company must be at plant level. This is defined by your system administrator in Customizing for Enterprise Structure in Define valuation level. You must therefore specify a plant in the Organizational Levels dialog box before you can create costing data.

Features

Besides costing data, data on the standard cost estimate is also displayed on the Costing screen, though this data cannot be changed here. For more information, see the user department Accounting.

Activities

Besides costing data, you can also define valuation data on this screen. This data is identical with that on the Accounting screen. In most cases, it will already exist on the Costing screen because it has already been entered on the Accounting screen. If it is entered on the Costing screen first, it will appear on the Accounting screen as default values that can be overwritten. (See also the user department Accounting.)

On the Material Master screen, you can list the materials for which accounting data, but not yet costing data, has already been maintained, provided the material type allows costing data to be maintained. You do this by choosing Other ® Extend matl view(s). You can then maintain this data. For more information, see Finding Information for Extending Material Master Records.
