Function documentation Shutdown Planning with External Systems  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can use the interface to shutdown planning with external project systems for planning and developing very big projects (for example, in the chemical industry, mineral oil industry). This interface offers the following advantages:

·        Universal solution for planning and executing big projects

·        Consistent data in both mySAP ERP and in the external project system (for example, internal project planning dates using the external system, and schedules for suppliers and service providers using mySAP ERP.

·        Flexible and prompt reaction to changes, such as, rescheduling, daily progress inspections, and extension of the scope of work.

Integration

The interface links mySAP ERP with external project systems (for example, Primavera P3 or MS Project).

Note

The interface does not include middleware or external systems. We merely provide you with the Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs) , which are required to map a comprehensive shutdown planning. You can find certified partners for this interface on the Internet under www.sap.com/softwarepartner.

You can use the interface as follows:

·        With SAP PS (Project System) and SAP PM (Plant Maintenance)

·        With SAP PS, but without SAP PM

·        With SAP PM, but without SAP PS

These three scenarios allow you to map and process a project structure with any amount of levels of detail, like the example shown in the graphic.

Features

The following graphic shows you the data exchange between mySAP ERP and an external system. For this, for example, network- or order data is exported from mySAP ERP, converted, and imported into an external project system. The data is processed, for example, scheduled, in the external system and then loaded back into mySAP ERP.

You can use the interface in Plant Maintenance, for example, for shutdowns, overhauls, modifications, or major repairs, in project processing, for example, for new developments for assets. The following table shows which activities are performed by mySAP ERP and which are performed by an external project system:

Activities

The interface for shutdown planning with external project systems is controlled by BAPIs. The BAPIs belong to the following packages:

·        Notifications: IWOP

·        Orders: IWO_BAPI_EX

You can obtain a downgrade of this BAPI for releases before SAP R/3 Enterprise Core 4.70 from the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com.
