Process documentation Outage Management  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

An outage management system analyzes faults in the supply grid reported by customers. If the number of faults accumulates in a particular section of the grid, it determines whether the cause is a central fault (such as a transformer failure). The system can manage the correction of the fault and determine which customers are affected. It does this using "connectivity information", which tells it whether the supply medium is transferred between two nodes.

Prerequisites

You have installed a geographical information system or a grid information system, so that you can call the connectivity information.

In the outage management system the technical objects (such as pieces of equipment) and, if applicable, basic customer information are available.

Process Flow

Interface Scenario: Fault/Outage

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

  1. The customer reports a fault in the supply grid. This is entered as a notification or a work order in the front office and transferred to the outage management system.
  2. When the outage management system has analyzed the outage, it generates a service order to correct the fault in the Work Management (IS-U-WM) component.
  3. At the same time, other external systems (such as dispatch and scheduling systems and automatic callback systems) are supplied with information.

  4. The completion confirmation of the restoration order (the recovery of supply) is transferred from the outage management system to IS-U-WM.

Result

The fault is corrected and the corresponding restoration order is completed. The data that can be analyzed for the customers or service connections affected is available in the Utilities Industry (IS-U) component.
