Inherent Flexibility

Building blocks are reusable pre-configuration units provided by SAP Best Practices that are necessary for the fast and smooth implementation of your solution. These building blocks contain the tools and the documentation you need for this purpose. The size and content of building blocks can vary from simple building blocks to complex building blocks, which can be used as stand-alone solution elements. You can assemble several basic, technical building blocks to form a higher-level building block, such as a scenario. Or you can use individual building blocks to modify an existing scenario or solution. This DVD contains the documentation on all of the building blocks delivered by SAP Best Practices for Pharmaceuticals; the respective configuration can be found on the SAP Best Practices configuration CD. If you only have the documentation DVD, see the document How to order SAP Best Practices for information on how to get the complete SAP Best Practices package, which includes the configuration CD.

There are two ways to access the building block documentation:

1. All of the SAP Best Practices scenario documentation pages contain information on which building blocks are needed to set up a specific business scenario. For each of these building blocks, a link is provided to the respective building block documentation page, which contains all of the technical documentation (e.g. installation guide).
2. Alternatively, all building block documentation pages can be directly accessed via the link to the Building Block Library. The library provides an overview of all the building blocks delivered by SAP Best Practices. The library also contains links to the individual building block documentation pages.

To ensure a successful installation and prevent possible mistakes, read the document "How to work with SAP Best Practices" before you start with any installation activities. This document provides important information on the tools, configuration and documentation delivered with SAP Best Practices. The document describes generic installation activities that have to be completed in order to successfully install SAP Best Practices. The document is therefore a prerequisite for any SAP Best Practices installation.
