P50 - Solid Dosage Forms

The scenario Solid Dosage Forms describes all logistic processes necessary within a complete product life cycle for SAPyrin tablets.

Process Flow

The following processes are provided to support the Solid Dosage Forms scenario:

  • Flexible planning / Material requirements planning
  • Procurement of batch materials / Procurement of non-batch materials
  • Active ingredient production
  • Manufacturing of solid dosage forms (tablets)
  • SAP OPC Data Access
  • Pharmaceutical packaging
  • Sales of drugs / Sales of OTC products
  • Vendor handling / Customer handling

The following functionalities and processes were implemented respecting also special GMP requirements.

Key Points

  • Integrated sales and production rough planning
  • Cost center planning and product costing
  • Batch number generation
  • Batch determination according to expiration date
  • Process order execution and PI sheet dispatch (incl. XML-based PI sheet)
  • Digital signature in PI sheet
  • Material identification and reconciliation
  • Integration of an external weighing system and barcode reader
  • Creation of Handling Units
  • QM integration covering in-process and post-process control with sample management and inspection plan
  • Electronic batch record (EBR)
  • Batch Information Cockpit
  • Expiry Date Calculation (Batch Derivation)
  • Batch where used list
  • Foreign Trade
  • Creation of a complaint QM notification
  • Batch recall

In addition, the browser-based PI-Sheet contains not only useful information on the manufacturing process (such as dangerous goods symbols, notes on occupational health and safety, material data), but also a Process Manufacturing Cockpit. The Process Manufacturing Cockpit shows how to implement

  • Company logos for personalization
  • General documentation
  • Internet links
  • Video clips in order to present complex processes
  • Access to standard transactions

The Process Manufacturing Cockpit can also be used for sending alert messages.

The browser-based PI-Sheet used for the manufacturing of the tablets provides access to measurements at the process level, e.g. temperature in a vessel. The installation of an OPC (demo) server is required for this functionality. Depending on the severity of the transferred value, alert messages (SMS or email) can be sent.
